Winning Essay Writer, Daniel D

Daniel Dintzner is a 24 year old participant of the Adult Family Care Program at Community Enterprises in Springfield. The Adult Family Care Program is designed to care for adults with disabilities in a family home setting. Because he is both blind and hearing impaired, Daniel benefits from assistance with his daily living skills.  Daniel has been a part of the CE community for 2 years, and lives at home with his family in Feeding Hills, MA. “Daniel lives the mission of Community Enterprises,” says his Supported Living Coordinator, Lora Cortis. “Daniel is an active and engaged member of his community.” His AFC Outreach Nurse, Amy Ware, adds, “Daniel is the perfect example of a young man meeting his challenges in a positive way. He is a vital and thriving member of the CE family.”

Community Enterprises Welcomes New Board Member

NORTHAMPTON, MA- Richard W. Venne, President/CEO, announces the election of Julia Powers of Somers, CT, to the Community Enterprises Board of Directors. Julia has previously served on the Board of Directors for Mental Health Association, Inc., as well as ACTS.

Julia Powers R.N., M.S.N. is currently the Medical Team Leader at Behavioral Health Network in Springfield, MA and has over 40 years of work experience in nursing, social work, and psychiatric nursing.  

Ms. Powers received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA; her Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA; and her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/ Social Work from Elms College, Chicopee, MA.

Community Enterprises Hires New Director of Employment and Day Supports Programs in Islandia, NY

ISLANDIA, NY- Richard W. Venne, President/CEO, announces the appointment of Brenda Catalano to the position of Director of Islandia Community Employment and Day Supports Programs. The Director is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of programs for adults with developmental disabilities. The Director maintains full management control for all aspects of the Islandia operations in accordance with agency mission, leadership objectives, policies and practices, program funding, regulatory agencies, licensing and accreditation standards.

 Brenda Catalano LMSW, CDP was previously the Program Administrator for the Suffolk Chapter of AHRC. She has eight years of experience in program management and working with individuals with disabilities.  Prior to entering the non-profit field, Ms. Catalano spent over ten years in the distribution and logistics industry.

 Ms. Catalano received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University at Albany, State University of New York, Albany, NY and is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner.
